The International Humanitarian City (IHC) has concluded last week among NGOs from around the world the Annual Consultations with NGOs organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at the International Conference Centre in Geneva from June 17 to 19, 2014.
Held under the theme “Women’s Leadership and Participation”, the annual consultations brought together more than 500 delegates and representatives from over 250 organizations in Asia, Africa Europe and Americas, inviting them to engage with senior level UNHCR representatives on issues of common concern and exchange of expertise. The meetings also enabled networking among delegates of non-governmental organizations from around the globe in the fields of development, humanitarian aid, health & emergency relief and charitable causes.
During the three-day dialogue, IHC held several meetings with senior representatives of IHC member organizations including UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Care International, the Norwegian Refugee Council and UNHCR, whose largest global stockpile of aid and emergency relief items is stored in its warehouses at IHC in Dubai. IHC management also discussed areas of cooperation with numerous organizations including the EU Commission, Aga Khan Foundation, Médecins Sans Frontières, UNITAR, UNRISD, IOM and WHO.
